Daily Kitchen Note
When you need heavy cream for a recipe but don't have any on hand, you can easily make a substitute. This simple trick uses common ingredients to mimic the fat content and moisture of heavy cream, saving you a trip to the store.

How to Substitute heavy cream
- Melt 1/3 cup of butter and let it cool slightly.
- Pour 3/4 cup of milk into a liquid measuring cup.
- Whisk the melted butter into the milk until well combined, then use immediately in your recipe.
Why it works
Heavy cream is essentially an emulsion of milk and butterfat. By combining milk with melted butter, you recreate the approximate fat content needed to provide richness and moisture in baked goods and cooked dishes.
