Roasted Acorn Squash with Brown Sugar and Butter

Roasted Acorn Squash with Brown Sugar and Butter

Ingredients:

  • 2 acorn squashes (halved and seeded)
  • 4 tbsp butter (melted)
  • 4 tbsp brown sugar
  • Brown Flake Salt (to taste)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat for easy cleanup.

2. Prepare the Squash:

Carefully cut the acorn squashes in half and scoop out the seeds. Brush the cut sides of the squash with the melted butter.

3. Season the Squash:

Sprinkle each squash half with brown sugar, cinnamon, black pepper, and a generous pinch of Brown Flake Salt. The Brown Flake Salt will add a slight crunch and enhance the sweetness of the brown sugar and butter.

4. Roast the Squash:

Place the squash halves cut side down on the prepared baking sheet. Roast in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the squash is tender and easily pierced with a fork.

5. Flip and Caramelize:

After the initial roasting, flip the squash halves over and roast for an additional 10 minutes to allow the glaze to caramelize and the squash to develop a golden-brown color.

6. Serve:

Once the squash is roasted and tender, remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Sprinkle with a little extra Brown Flake Salt and a dash of cinnamon before serving.

Why Brown Flake Salt?

Brown Flake Salt is a perfect match for roasted squash, as it enhances the caramelized sweetness of the brown sugar and butter while adding a touch of complexity. The flaky texture of the salt provides a delightful crunch, contrasting beautifully with the soft, tender squash. The addition of Brown Flake Salt balances the sweetness and heightens the flavor profile of this dish, making it unforgettable.
